Matt Kaplan

Owner, Audiologist

Dr. Matthew Kaplan has seen, first-hand, the detrimental effects that hearing loss can have on those affected, as well as their loved ones. Hearing is truly central to cultivating as well as nurturing strong relationships. He wanted to pursue a field of practice where he could have a positive impact in his community while aiding those with hearing loss and hearing disorders to increase their quality of life. He genuinely enjoys developing strong, trusting relationships with his patients and providing them with the psychological, emotional, and medical support that those with hearing loss need.

Matthew D. Kaplan, Au.D., received his Doctoral Degree in Audiology from the University of South Florida and his Bachelor’s Degree from Penn State University. He has a variety of interests with a strong focus in adult diagnostics and adult amplification as well as tinnitus management. He is also trained and experienced with Cochlear implants as well as bone anchored hearing aids. He has worked in a multitude of audiological settings including Tampa General Hospital, renowned Otolaryngologist (ENT) practices, as well as some of the largest private audiological practices in the country.

These experiences have provided Dr. Kaplan a unique breadth of knowledge and perspective to provide a truly holistic and patient-first approach to hearing health care. He believes that one size does not fit all, especially in Audiology.

“I believe each and every person brings their own unique experiences, needs, circumstances, and expectations to any appointment. I treat my patients the same way I expect myself and my family to be treated when we seek healthcare. This includes patience, kindness, compassion, sincerity, and competence. I know when I feel like just another patient, or a number in a waiting room, and I can promise my patients (new and old) that will never be the case at the Kaplan Family Hearing Center.” ~ Dr. Kaplan

Dr. Kaplan was born and raised in Northern New Jersey. He enjoys spending his free time with his wife Brandi, originally from Pittsburgh, and his three amazing and crazy little kiddos, Grayson, Emerson, and Hudson. He is a “foodie” who loves cooking and discovering new, local restaurants. He bleeds blue and white (GO PSU!)

Why I became an audiologist

“I’ve had multiple family members who suffer from hearing loss. I’ve seen first-hand the detrimental effects that this disorder can have on those affected as well as their loved ones. Hearing is truly central to cultivating as well as nurturing strong relationships. I wanted to pursue a field of practice where I could have a positive impact in my community while aiding those with hearing loss and hearing disorders to increase their quality of life. I genuinely enjoy developing strong, trusting relationships with my patients and providing them with the psychological, emotional, and medical support that those with hearing loss need. Few things bring me more joy than having a patient return to my office to tell me how much I’ve changed their lives on a daily basis, or having family members of the patient come to appointments to tell me how excited they are to engage with their loved one again.” ~Dr. Kaplan

From Our Patients

“I very much appreciate Dr. Kaplan’s expertise in identifying and addressing the problems with my hearing. He was extremely encouraging and patient as he explained the situation and I felt at ease to ask him questions throughout my appointment. I am still adjusting to wearing hearing aids and I am confident that my hearing will continue to improve under his care and supervision.”                                                                                                                                                     ~ Martha S.
